My First Fan Letter Arrives
I received my first fan letter for my book today, and it was via U.S. mail. How retro! It was from a relative of Capt. Tom Haugen, one of the skippers I profiled in the book. The writer, who lives in Minnesota, is a niece of Haugen, and she says that he was one of only two members of his family to emigrate to the U.S. from Norway. If you've read my book and have a comment, please write to me at
joef@speakeasy.net. Better yet,
write a review of my book on Amazon!

Successful Book Reading in Aberdeen
I visited the
Aberdeen Museum of History in Aberdeen, Washington March 9 and presented my book to about two dozen local folks.
Shipbuilders, Sea Captains, and Fishermen has a strong tie to Grays Harbor County, because one of Wawona's captains, Ralph E. "Matt" Peasley was a longtime resident of Aberdeen. He is buried in the city's Fern Hill Cemetary. It was a wonderful evening, and I sold 17 books, my best night yet! More public readings are coming. I'll be in Bellingham again March 28 for a reading before a private club. My next public reading is
April 6 at the Kitsap County Museum in Bremerton.
